GROOMSMEN - RENTING A TUX
If
you are planning on having a more traditional wedding,
your groomsmen and best man will most likely need to
rent or purchase tuxes. Below, we have listed some
helpful tips in making the tux rental process easier.
Plan Early Make sure to contact the groomsmen as
early as possible in letting them know where the tux
rental place is and when they should go in. The more
specific you are, the more helpful it will be for those
groomsmen who are not well organized.
Choose Your Tux Style As soon as possible, go and start
looking at tux styles in magazines and at tux rental
shops (at least six months prior to the wedding if
possible). You need to give yourself time to choose the
store style and location so your groomsmen will also
have enough time to rent or purchase their tux.
Place a reminder via email or calls
to make sure those groomsmen who have not gone in to get
fitted are notified. Some tuxedo places will contact the
groomsmen and best man for you.
Fitting Day Sometimes it is fun to all go in on the
same day and make an event out of it. If you plan far in
advance, you can have the
bachelor party
on the same day (or a golf game with your buddies).
The Pick Up Make sure to leave enough time prior to
the wedding day to pick up the tux. Remind everyone two
weeks in advance of the wedding (if possible) which is
helpful. It is helpful for everyone to go in themselves
to make sure the tux fits right. There are many stories
about another groomsmen picking up the other tuxes and
either something not fitting or something forgotten
(i.e., tie, shirt, pants, buttons, etc). You may also
want to remind the bride and her
bridesmaid to pick up their
bridesmaid dresses.
The Return It is a great gift
to help the groom and groomsmen return their tux by
taking all of them for everyone back to the store. Make
sure to ask the tuxedo shop when the tuxes are due back
so you are not charged extra. It is great to bring some
big laundry bags with paper to place all tuxes in one
place and account for each groomsman. You can also try
to negotiate with the tuxedo shop and get a better rate
on the bulk tuxedos, especially in a soft economical
market as everyone wants business.
Purchasing Tuxedos If you are going to be a groomsmen for
a lot of weddings or special occasions events and know
that there is no specific requirement or specification
for the tuxes you will be using, it may be better to
purchase a tuxedo. Before purchasing the tux, go online
and take a look at the different selection and prices
for the tuxedo styles. Purchase some magazines like GQ
and other mens fashion to see what the new styles
are. Visit some tuxedo shops and see if you can find
anything that fits your style. Many times you can find
sales and discounts if you plan in advance of when you
need the tux.
I hope this information on renting
tuxedos or purchasing tuxedos is helpful. Please let us
know any information you would want to have us place up
for groomsmen which you feel is helpful. |
