GROOMSMEN ADVICE & FAQ
Many groomsmen and grooms are
writing in with frequently asked questions (FAQ's) that
I would like to address to help create a stress free and
knowledgeable environment during the pre-wedding parties
and wedding itself.
1) Ask the groom if you can help
The groomsmen role is important as you can
be that wingman in need to make sure everything goes
right during the process of the bachelor party,
pre-wedding planning and wedding itself. Your buddy may
not reach out to you and let you know he needs help but
trust me it is great when you ask what is needed. He may
just need support or for you to pick up some things to
make his life easier in this big transition and time of
great fun.
2) Groomsmen Protocol
The most important thing is to take care of renting the
groomsmen tux,
bachelor party planning, and
best man speech as early as possible. Don't wait
until the last moment to get your
bachelor party supplies or your tux that may not fit
well. It is most optimal to have everything completed in
enough time to reach out and ask if the groom needs
help, knowing your stuff is all together.
3) Showing Up
Don't blow off any parties that the groom has asked you
to be involved in (unless your ex is there and it is too
uncomfortable). This is an important time to your buddy
who has chosen you for a reason. Be there and be on
time.
4) Pay Attention During Practice
During the wedding rehearsal, make sure to listen and
not play around since there may be important
instructions that you do not want to disrupt on the big
day. Party after the practice and not during. Don't come
drunk or strung out since it will upset the groom and
his family.
5) Be Polite and Helpful During The
Wedding
Your responsibility will be to guide guests to their
seat on the big day as well as escort one of the
bridesmaids down the aisle during the wedding. Make
sure to take the walk down the aisle slow and not be too
goofy. Make sure to also not step on the
bridesmaid dress since this will be embarrassing for
the bridesmaid and possibly you. Get to know who you are
walking down the aisle with a little at the rehearsal so
you feel comfortable as your arms will be locked when
walking.
6) Getting the Groom Ready
Help the groom get ready on his big day and bring extra
shoe laces, shaver, cologne, deodorant, and gum to offer
to others in need who may forget on the big day.
7) Help with the Presents
On the big day, make sure that a groomsmen is guarding
the presents and also guide people where to place the
presents. In a public area, there is always a
possibility of theft.
8) Seating Arraignments
Know which sides the bride and grooms families are
sitting on so you can help guests sit on which side they
should be on.
9) Saving Money
Don't feel you have to spend lots of money on the
bachelor party and wedding. Be economical and find sites
or venues that cater to volume rates, discounts or
economical items in making sure it does not break your
pocket book.
10) What its all About
Most of all, have a great time and help the groom
de-stress on his big day as well as have an excellent
and safe time at his bachelor party. |
